Die Strecke von der 9th und Green Street nach Germantown ging 1832 in Betrieb. Anfangs Pferdebahnbetrieb, im Nov. 1832 lieferte Matthias W. Baldwin (1795-1866), einer der berühmtesten Lokomotivhersteller der Welt, dann die Dampflok “Old Ironsides”. 1870 wurde die Bahn für 999 Jahre an die Philadelphia & Reading RR verpachtet. Anschließend ungewöhnlicher Weise, ohne jemals reorganisiert zu werden, bis Ende des 20. Jh. existent geblieben! | | Specials: | Wunderschönes Papier mit sieben Kupferstichvignetten, u.a. zwei Uralt-Eisenbahnen als Personen- und Güterzug, Portraits von Washington, Penn, Franklin und Fulton. Gleiche Gestaltung wie die in den 1830er Jahren ausgegebenen Aktien, doch zusätzlich kleine Vignette einer Nixe mit Anker mit der Textumschrift: „The annexed Vignette will characterize all stock issued since the Reopening of the Books of Transfer in November 1839 and distinguish it from the former Issues“. | | Condition: | VF+. | | Sold: | unsold |
