place: | Chicago, Ill. | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 235 | | Info: | Als Schauplatz von Autorennen hat Chicago über ein Jahrhundert Tradition: 1895 fand hier das allererste Autorennen der USA statt, ein Straßenrennen von Jackson Park nach Evanston. 1915 eröffnete die Speedway Park Association in Maywood die erste Autorennstrecke in Chicago, viele andere folgten wegen des großen Erfolges: Der zwei Meilen lange Ovalkurs in Maywood besaß eine Fahrbahn aus Holzplanken und an den beiden Längsseiten ausgedehnte Zuschauertribünen. 1915 bis 1918 gab es hier regelmäßig Autorennen im Indianapolis-Stil. | | Specials: | Große Vignette mit Ansicht der Rennstrecke und der Zuschauertribünen aus der Vogelperspektive.
