Insgesamt gab es mehr als ein halbes Dutzend Vorläufer, deren älteste die 1857 konzessionierte Grayville & Mattoon RR war, die 1880 von der P.D.&E.Ry. erworben wurde. 1886 erlangte die Evansville & Terre Haute RR unter Daniel J. Mackey die Kontrolle über die P.D.&E.Ry., deren 235 Meilen lange Hauptstrecke von Pekin, Ill. nach Evansville, Ind. führte. 1898 ging die P.D.&E.Ry. pleite, wurde vom Konkursverwalter zum Verkauf gestellt und dann von der Illinois Central erworben. 1976-99 wurden einige Teilstrecken stillgelegt, 1999 erwarb die Canadian National Ry. die Illinois Central, die die Strecke Mattoon-Peoria (von den Eisenbahnern „the old P.D.&E.“ genannt) bis heute betreibt. | | Specials: | Feiner braun/schwarzer Stahlstich mit Dampflok-Vignette. | | Condition: | VF | | Sold: | unsold |
