Mit dem Bau dieser Eisenbahn nach Beechwood (Mound Jct.) an der Hauptstrecke der Illinois Central ging in Mound City ein explosionsartiger Bevölkerungszuwachs einher: Ganze 6 Leute lebten dort 1856, über 2.500 waren es 1858! Heute befindet sich in Mound City direkt am Ufer des Ohio River (mit Lade- und Endladeeinrichtungen für Güterzüge, LKW und Binnenschiffe) eine riesige Umschlaganlage für Schüttgut (Kali, Sojabohnenmehl, Getreide, Kohle) mit zwei eigenen Rangierlokomotiven an einer jetzt von der Canadian National Railway betriebenen Bahnstrecke. | | Specials: | Große, ungemein feine Personenzug-Vignette. | | Availability: | Unentwertet!
