Mit fast 10 Mio. $ ausgegebenen Banknoten in 17 verschiedenen Serien eine der bei der Notenausgabe aktivsten Banken, die dieses Privileg auch erst 1930 verlor, als die Bank beim großen Bankensterben nach dem „Schwarzen Freitag“ 1929 in Schwierigkeiten geriet und dann von der „Union Trust Company of Maryland“ absorbiert wurde. Mitte des 19. Jh. bekam die Bank übrigens einen besonders prominenten Präsidenten: JOHN HOPKINS (1795-1873), Unternehmer und Großaktionär der Baltimore & Ohio RR, der 1867-73 mit der bis dahin größten privaten Stiftung in den USA von 7 Mio. $ die noch heute berühmte John-Hopkins-University mit angeschlossenem Krankenhaus gründete. | | Specials: | Kleinformat, schönes Prägesiegel mit Dreimast-Bark und Ackergerät. | | Availability: | Unentwertet.
