place: | Greenwich, N.Y. | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 298 | | Info: | Gründung 1866 als Union Village & Johnsonville RR zum Bau der 14 Meilen langen Bahn von Union Village (später in Greenwich umbenannt) nach Johnsonville, N.Y. 1879 unter obigem Namen reorganisiert. 1902-07 wurde von Greenwich aus die Salem Branch gebaut, die 7 Meilen Richtung Westen nach Schuylerville (dort Anschluß an die Saratoga Branch der Boston & Maine ) und 11 Meilen Richtung Osten nach Salem (dort Anschluß an die Delaware & Hudson) führte. 1906 erwarb die Delaware & Hudson alle Aktien (somit am Ende zum New-York-Central-System gekommen), legte 1932 die Ursprungsstrecke Greenville-Johnsonville still und verkaufte den von ihr kaum noch genutzten Rest Schuylerville-Greenwich 1982 an die Batten Kill RR. | | Specials: | Holzstich-Vignette mit Personenzug. | | Availability: | Aus einer uralten New-York-Sammlung.
