Die Betriebsführung lag zunächst bei der Great Northern Railway Co. (Ireland) , ging aber bereits 1906 auf das „County Donegal Railways Joint Comitee“ über. 1909 wurde die 19 Meilen lange 914-mm-Schmalspurbahn eröffnet.
