Hohe Arbeitskosten führten 1918 zu deren Schließung. Etwa 1928 etablierten die Bergbauexperten Harry L. Barr und John N. McLellan die Ute Gold Mining Co., die 19 claims im Gilpin County besaß. Ihre moderne Erzaufbereitungsanlage sollte zudem Erze anderer Bergwerke verarbeiten, die keine eigene Mill besaßen.
