Stanton (der als president original unterschreibt) zum Bau einer 80 Meilen langen Bahn von Terre Haute nach Columbus, Ohio. Vermittels dieser Anleihe sammelte Stanton nicht nur in den USA, sondern auch in London einiges Geld ein. Als dann 1885 die Zinszahlung ausblieb forschten einige Investoren nach. Doch der angeblich in New York wohnhafte Stanton war dort nicht mehr aufzufinden und mit dem Geld längst über alle Berge.
