Die 198 Meilen lange Hauptstrecke führte von Marietta über Vincent, Athens, Hamden, Chillicote, Greenfield und Blanchester nach Loveland, O. Sie war eine der fünf bedeutenden Ost-West-Eisenbahnen im südlichen Ohio. Die beiden wichtigsten Zweigstrecken waren Blanchester-Hilldsboro (vorher die Hillsboro & Cincinnati RR) und Hamden-Portsmouth (vorher die Scioto & Hocking Valley RR). Nur ein Jahr nachdem der erste durchgehende Zug die Strecke passiert hatte, ging die Bahn 1858 das erste Mal pleite. Erneut reorganisiert 1883 als Cincinnati, Washington & Baltimore RR sowie 1889 als Baltimore & Ohio Southwestern RR. Der (überaus unfallträchtige) Teil der alten Strecke von Scott‘s Landing nach Big Run wurde 1882 als Marietta Mineral Ry. neu organisiert (1900 umbenannt in Marietta, Columbus & Cleveland RR, 1917 stillgelegt). Der östliche Teil operierte dann als Marietta & Vincent RR, 1924 stillgelegt. Der allergrößte Teil der dem Tal des Hocking River folgenden Strecke wurde schließlich von der Baltimore & Ohio RR erworben und wird bis heute vor allem von Kohlenzügen befahren. | | Specials: | Mit schöner Eisenbahnvignette vor grandioser Landschaft. | | Availability: | Unentwertet.
