place: | Berlin | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 3089 | | Info: | Die erste "Freie Volksbühne" wurde 1890 als besonderer Zweig der Arbeiterbildungsvereine gegründet. 1892 Abspaltung der "Neue Freie Volksbühne", die 1914 ihr eigenes Theater am Bülowplatz eröffnete (heißt heute Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, früher Horst-Wessel-Platz, hier erschoss Stasi-Mielke einen Polizisten). 1919 Wiederzusammenschluss beider Vereine, 1920 Zusammenschluss mit weiteren neugegründeten Volksbühnen zum "Verband der Deutschen Volksbühnen-Vereine e.V.". 1933 wurde die Volksbühne aufgelöst, 1945 neu gegründet. Grundsteinlegung des Theaters erfolgte am 14.9.1913.
