In Betrieb ging zunächst die 97 Meilen lange Bahn von Fort Wayne, Ind. nach Norden bis Jackson, Mich., die später über Lansing nach Owosso verlängert wurde und außerdem etwa in der Mitte der Strecke bei Hillsdale einen nach Nordosten über Ann Arbor Richtung Detroit führenden Abzweig erhielt (die Ypsilanti Branch). 1879 als Fort Wayne & Jackson RR reorganisiert, ab 1914 verpachtet an die New York Central RR.
