place: | Madrid | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 702 | | Info: | Im Jahr 1920 erwarb eine belgische Gesellschaft, der das Hotel Palace gehörte, ein 4.500 qm großes Grundstück gegenüber dem Hotel, um ein Gebäude für Freizeit- und moderne Geschäftseinrichtungen zu bauen. Der sehr schön gestaltete Bau wurde 1922 fertiggestellt. Im Erdgeschoss entstand eine 55 Meter lange und 27 Meter breite Eislaufbahn mit Tribünen, ein Tanzsaal im Stil Ludwigs XIV. und Geschäfte, sowie im 3. Obergeschoss ein Automobil-Ausstellungsraum mit angegliedertem Verkaufsraum, der über einen separaten Eingang erreicht werden konnte. 1928 wurde das Gebäude vom spanischen Staat erworben und gänzlich umgebaut. Die Eisbahn wurde wieder demontiert. Vermutlich musste auch der Ausstellungsraum für die Automobile weichen.
