Diese war 1879 konzessioniert worden zwecks Reorganisation der 1869 gegründeten, 1871 fertiggestellten und 1873 pleite gegangenen Central Rail Road Co. of Iowa (die ein Projekt der zuvorigen Iowa River Ry. verwirklicht hatte). Hauptstrecke Albia-Manly Junc., Ia. (189 Meilen) sowie sechs Flügelbahnen mit zus. 223 Meilen Länge. Deren größte war die 97 Meilen lange Keithsburg Branch von Oskaloosa an das Westufer des Mississippi River. 1883 wurde daran anschließend auch die Peoria & Farmington RR erworben mit ihrer gerade fertiggestellten Strecke Peoria-Keithsburg (92 Meilen). Die Iowa Central wurde 1912 von der Minneapolis & St. Louis RR „geschluckt“.
