place: | Tennessee | | Picture: |  | | Number: | 16 | | Info: | Konzessioniert 1886 als Powell’s Valley Ry. zum Bau der 75 Meilen langen Bahn Knoxville-Cumberland Gap, Tenn., reorganisiert 1887 als „Railroad“ und erneut 1888 als Knoxville, Cumberland Gap & Louisville Railroad. 1889 ging die Strecke Middlesborough-Cumberland Gap einschließlich eines Tunnels unter dem Cumberland Gap in Betrieb. 1895 ein drittes Mal reorganisiert, unter sonst unverändertem Namen als „Railway“, wobei nun die Southern Ry. die Kontrolle übernahm. Diese übertrug 1896 die Betriebsführung ihrer Tochter Louisville & Nashville RR, die dann den größten Teil der Strecke bis auf gut 4 Meilen Verbindungsgleise in Middlesborough, Tenn. stilllegte. Die L&N wurde 1971 von der Atlantic Coast Line übernommen, 1988 Verschmelzung mit dem Chessie System zur CSX Transportation. | | Availability: | Unentwertet.
