Info:Gegründet 1848 als „Alabama & Tennessee River RR“. Ursprünglich war eine Eisenbahnstrecke von Selma, Ala. nach Gadsden geplant, doch auch bis zum Ende des Sezessionskrieges war der Bahnbau erst bis Blue Mountain (bei Anniston) vorangekommen. So entschied man sich 1867 (deswegen die Umbenennung), den Weiterbau nach Gadsden zu den Akten zu legen und statt dessen 100 Meilen nach Rome und Dalton zu bauen, wo man neben anderen etablierten Nord-Süd-Verbindungen auch an die Hauptstrecke der „Western & Atlantic Ry.“ anschließen konnte. Die 1870 fertiggestellte Strecke Selma-Dalton, Ala. (237 Meilen) war dann Bestandteil einer durchgehenden Verbindung von Mobile, Ohio nach New Orleans, La. Die erhoffte Stabilisierung der Einnahmen trat jedoch nicht ein, anschließend ging die Bahn noch zwei Mal pleite und wurde 1874 als Georgia Southern RR und erneut 1881 als East Tennessee, Virginia & Georgia RR reorganisiert. Diese ging schließlich 1894 im mächtigen System der Southern Ry. auf. Teile der Strecke werden noch heute von CSX Transportation betrieben.
Availability:Unentwertet, kpl. Kuponbogen anhängend. Oben kleiner Einriss im Mittelfalz, sonst sehr gut erhalten. (R 10)
