Eine Verlängerung um 120 Meilen nach Cairo war 1873 vollendet. 1874 insolvent und als „New Orleans, St.Louis & Chicago“ reorganisiert, dann in drei Nachfolger aufgebrochen und 1877 auf Betreiben des Alleinaktionärs „Illinois Central“ mit der New Orleans, Jackson & Northern RR zur „Chicago, St. Louis & New Orleans RR“ zusammengeschlossen. 1881 wurde die vormalige 5-Fuß-Breitspur-Bahn auf Normalspur umgebaut. | | Specials: | Zwei sehr dekorative Eisenbahnvignetten. Rückseitig original signiert von George H. Bates als Trustee. Der Rechtsanwalt Bates (1845-1916) war ein einflußreicher Politiker der Demokraten. 1889 nahm Bates an der Samoa-Konferenz in Berlin als US-Kommissar teil. | | Availability: | Unentwertet, mit Kupons ab 1875.
