Die 27 Meilen langen Strecke Elkton-Bridgewater, Va. wurde 1896 eröffnet und 1901 Richtung Westen bis Stokesville, Va. am Fuß der Allegheny Mountains verlängert. Anschlüsse bestanden in Elkton an die Norfolk & Western und in Harrisonburg, Va. an die Southern Ry. 1938/1954 zunächst indirekt, dann direkt von der heutigen Norfolk Southern übernommen worden.
