Für beide gab es zunächst auch zwei Bahngesellschaften: Die Pekin, Lincoln & Decator RR und die Decatur, Mattoon & Southern RR. Erst 1880 fusionierten beide zur Peoria, Decatur & Evansville Ry. Diese wurde aber 1900 wieder aufgeteilt in die Peoria, Decator & Mattoon RR und die Mattoon & Evansville RR. Wenige Monate später erlangte die Illinois Central die Kontrolle und verleibte beide Bahnen 1905 ihrem System vollständig ein.
