Stolberg'sche Maschinenfabrik, die viele Zuckerfabriken dieser Zeit mit dem entsprechenden Maschinen ausstattete, die AG wurde offiziell 1884 gegründet. Die Rohzuckerproduktion wurde von 34.460 Zentner im Jahre 1908/09 auf 54.000 bei der Kampagene 1917/18 gesteigert. Die Fabrik bei Hildesheim war die einzige deutsche Zuckerfabrik, die nach dem 2. Weltkrieg nicht durch Fusion woanders unterkam. Sie ging ganz normal in Konkurs.
