Bahnbetrieb ab 6.1.858 auf der Strecke Hanover Junction und New Oxford. Vom 1. bis zum 3. Juli 1863 war Gettysburg Schauplatz der entscheidender Schlacht im amerikanischen Bürgerkrieg. Am 18.11.1863 fuhr der Präsident Abraham Lincoln mit der Gettysburg RR, um am nächsten Tag den neuen Friedhof von Gettysburg einzuweihen. Er hielt dabei eine Rede, die heute als Gettysburg Address bekannt ist und als eine der bedeutendsten der US-Geschichte angesehen wird.
