Ab 1953 finanzieller Probleme, auch verursacht durch GM Ford und Chrysler, die mit Preisdumping die unabhängigen Automobilproduzenten aus dem Markt zu drängen. Daher kaufte Kaiser-Frazer die ebenfalls notleidende Willy-Overland in Toledo auf, um neben ihren Kleinwagen auch Geländewagen („Jeep“) anzubieten zu können. Über solche Modell verfügte die große Konkurrenz nämlich nicht. Die Dachgesellschaft hieß nun Kaiser-Willys. 1955 wurde die Automobilproduktion (ausgenommen die Jeeps) in den USA aufgegeben, die Rechte gingen an die in Argentinien neu gegründete Industrias Kaiser Argentina. 1963 Umbenennung der Firma in Toledo in Kaiser Jeep Corp., 1970 von American Motors übernommen. | | Specials: | Faksimile-Unterschrift von Joseph W.
