Friedrich Eduard Bilz (1842-1922) wurde durch eigene Erkrankungen im Meeraner Naturheilverein mit der Naturheilkunde vertraut. 1882 gab er sein erste Buch darüber heraus, 1890 “Das Neue Naturheilverfahren”. In der Oberlößnitz (Ortsteil von Radebeul) baute er sich eine eigene Naturheilanstalt, bestehend aus vier Kurhäusern mit 180 Betten.
