Eine anderweitig bereits seit 1857 bestehende Papierfabrik wurde dorthin 1872 verlegt und 1891 in eine AG umgewandelt. Nach Ansiedlung der Fabrik verdoppelte sich die Einwohnerzahl des kleinen Ortes.
