Zeitz war damals in Deutschland die “Hauptstadt der Kinderwagen”, in der es unzählige einschlägige Fabriken gab. Sie wurden zu DDR-Zeiten im VEB ZEKIWA zusammengefaßt, mit über 2000 Beschäftigten die größte Fabrik für Kinderwagen und Puppenwagen in ganz Europa, die auch den westdeutschen Markt versorgte.
