Im Westen Deutschlands fährt ab 1949 die Deutsche Schlafwagen- und Speisewagen-Gesellschaft mbH (DSG) als 100%ige Tochter der Bundesbahn. Mitropa in der DDR bleibt AG und entwickelte sich zum Monopolisten der Reisendenversorgung. 1994 werden beide Unternehmen wieder unter dem Dach der Mitropa vereint.
