Um die Jahrhundertwende entwickelte die “Nordwolle” eine hektische Betriebsamkeit und übernahm Dutzende von weiteren Textilbetrieben in ganz Deutschland, außerdem Anlagen in Argentinien, Uruguay und Südafrika. Der schließliche Zusammenbruch 1931 brachte wiederum die kreditgebende Darmstädter und National-Bank zu Fall, was allgemein als Auslöser der Weltwirtschaftskrise in Deutschland angesehen wird.
