Die Stadt Monson, Me. benötigte die Eisenbahn zum Abtransport der Erzeugnisse ihrer Steinbrüche. Sie organisierte schon in den 1880er Jahren die Monson & Athens RR, die Richtung Süden baute, sowie die Sebasticook & Moosehead RR, die am Sebasticook River entlang nach Norden baute, bis sie bei Pittsfield auf die Hauptlinie der Maine Central traf. 1901 wurde die Bahn bis Mainstream verlängert, 1910 an die Maine Central verpachtet und 1911 von dieser komplett geschluckt, 1912 noch bis Harmony verlängert.
