Hodkinson gegründeter Filmverleih sowie die 1912 von Adolph Zukor gegründete Famous Player Company. Der in Ungarn geborene Zukor war zunächst Pelzhändler in New York, 1903 versuchte er als Schausteller mit Guckkästen sein Glück. Erfolgreich: Mit M. Loew gründete er 1905 eine Kette fester Ladenkinos mit Guckkästen (Nickel Odeons) und 1911 die Engadine Productions, ein Verleih für französische und italienische Filme. Unter Einschluß der J. L. Lasky Feature Play Co. fusionierte Zukor 1917 diese Unternehmen zur Paramount Films (vorm. Famous Players-Lasky Film Corp.) und blieb bis 1933 der Präsident von Paramount. Später kamen ein Wochenschau- (Paramount News) und ein Schallplattenunternehmen (Famous Music Corp.) hinzu. In Anwendung des Antitrustgesetzes trennte sich 1950 die Herstellungs- und Verleihgruppe als P.P.C. von der Kinokette United Paramount Theatres Corp. Letztere wurde 1953 von der Rundfunkgesellschaft American Broadcasting Co. übernommen, die ihrerseits 1966 in der International Telephone & Telegraph Corp.
