Info:Gründung 1897. Die Ges. betrieb elektrische Strassenbahnen in Mobile, Alabama.1939 von der National City Lines übernommen und anschließend liquidiert worden. Später wurde dies als „Großer amerikanischer Straßenbahn-Skandal“ bekannt: Hinter dem unscheinbaren Busunternehmen National City Lines standen mit verdeckten Investitionen Größen der Automobil- und Ölindustrie wie General Motors, Firestone Tire, Standard Oil und Philips Petroleum. Zweck des Unternehmens war es, zur Förderung des Automobilabsatzes Straßenbahnen aufzukaufen und anschließend stillzulegen. Dieses Schicksal erlitten zwischen 1936 und 1950 mehr als 100 Nahverkehrsunternehmen in 45 US-Städten, wo anschließend statt dessen General-Motors-Busse zum Einsatz kamen. Die Zahl der in den USA verkehrenden Straßenbahnzüge verringerte sich im Gegenzug von 37.000 auf 5.400. 1950 wurden die beteiligten Unternehmen deswegen einer kriminellen Verschwörung für schuldig befunden, und 1956 untersagte der Oberste Gerichtshof der USA diese Praxis endgültig. Erst 1974 wurden diese kriminellen Machenschaften der Autoindustrie einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit überhaupt bekannt.
