Info:Der Rotgerber Caspar Roser emigriert 1681 aus dem gerade von Frankreich annektierten Straßburg nach Stuttgart und begründet dort eine über Generationen tätige Gerber-Dynastie. 1806 gründet der Stuttgarter Gerbermeister Jakob Heinrich Roser in Stuttgart die Lederfabrik J.H. Roser. Aus dieser ging 1875 als Nachfolger hervor die Esslinger Lederfabrik mit einem Fabrikneubau in der gerade 10 Jahre zuvor als Industriegebiet angelegten Pliensauvorstadt (Hedelfinger Str. 4, frühere Uhlandstraße, etwas isoliert im Süden der Stadt auf der zeitweise “Zigeunerinsel” genannten anderen Neckarseite). 1923 gibt die Familie Roser ihre Anteile ab, es kommt zur Gründung der J. H. Roser AG, die in Stuttgart börsennotiert ist. 1958 in eine GmbH umgewandelt. Seit Stilllegung der Lederproduktion wird die wunderschön restaurierte 4-geschossige Fabrik als Roser-Gebäude von der Daimler AG genutzt.
