Info:Eine Pferderennbahn. 15 Jahre lang kämpfte Richter James E. Dooley, Präsident der Canadian-American Hockey League, für seine Idee, Pferdewetten auf legale Füße zu stellen, was vor Mitte 1934 in Rhode Island nicht der Fall war. Das entsprechende Gesetz wurde im Juni 1934 geändert. Zusammen mit dem Besitzer der Star-Tribune Walter E. O‘Hara kaufte er sofort 52 Hektar Land in Pawtucket für 150.000 $ von einem Kneipier namens John F. Letendre. Ende Juli 1934 wurde die Narrangansett Racing Ass. Inc. schließlich gegründet. O.Hara fungierte als President, Dooley selbst als betriebsführender Direktor und Vice-President. Sofort begannen die Bauarbeiten und schon am 1.8.1984 wurde die 1 Meile lange Rennbahn eröffnet - sie kostete 1,2 Mio. $. Die Haupttribüne bot Platz für 10.000 Wetthungrige und Pferdeliebhaber. Die Ställe waren riesig und boten Platz für 1.650 Pferde. Das Start-Gate ließ sich automatisch öffnen und am Ziel sorgte eine Kamera für die Beweissicherung eines exakten Zieleinlaufes. Dies war weltweit die ERSTE Einrichtung dieser Art, später wurden die Kameras natürlich auf anderen Bahnen ebenfalls Standard. Als in den 70er Jahren das Interesse an Pferderennen in Rhode Island stark nachgelassen hatte, musste die Gesellschaft 1978 den Betrieb aufgeben. In den 1980er Jahren entstand unter Einbeziehung des alten Tribünengebäudes ein Discounter-Markt.
