Die 275 Meilen lange Hauptstrecke sollte von Alton, Ill. nach Kansas City, Mo. führen mit einer Zweigbahn von St. Louis nach St. Charles, Mo. (25 Meilen). Nur von der Zweigbahn war das 16 Meilen lange Teilstück nach Hamburg, Mo. fertig, als die Bahn schon 1890 erneut zwangsversteigert wurde.
