Info:Bedeutende Schiffsbaugesellschaft, deren Ursprung eine 1793 von Philip und John Laing errichtete Schiffswerft am Monkwearmouth Shore war. Seit 1898 AG. Neben Schiffbau und Reparaturwerft besaß die Ges. auch selbst Schiffsbeteiligungen. Zahlreiche bekannte Schiffe verliessen die Sir James Laing Werft in Sunderland, dem Zentrum der Grafschaft Durham, u.a. im Auftrag der White Star Line oder der Hamburg-Südamerikanischen Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft. 1954 auf die Sunderland Shipbuilding Dry Docks & Engineering Co. verschmolzen, später als Howard Doris Structures für den Bau von Bohrinseln wieder verselbständigt.
Specials:Hochdekorative Aktiengestaltung: verspielte Vignette links mit Abbildung eines Schiffsrumpfes in der Werft, Umrahmung aus Muscheln. Die Aktie ist ausgestellt auf den Schiffsbauer Arthur Laing und trägt die Originalsignaturen von Hugh Laing und Bryan Laing als Direktoren.
Availability:Nur 15 Stück von diesem bedeutenden und für englische Verhältnisse sehr schönen Wert wurden 2003 in England gefunden.
