Die Landrechte der Gesellschaft zwischen den Flüssen Animas und Arkansas gehen bereits auf den “Las Animas Grant” von 1843 zurück, als die Gegend noch zu Mexico gehörte, ehe sie im Vertrag von Guadeloupe Hidalgo 1848 an die USA abgetreten wurde. Der urspüngliche Land Grant belief sich auf unglaubliche 4 Mio. ha, wovon der US-Kongreß 1860 aber “nur” 97.000 ha bestätigte. Das aber kratzte die Rinderbarone der Cleveland & Colorado Cattle Co. wenig: ungerührt fingen sie an, das ganze urspüngliche Gebiet einzuzäunen. Das wiederum rief die US-Regierung auf den Plan, der Fall kam vor Gericht, und 1888 entschied der Circuit Court im Bezirk Colorado, daß sich die Gesellschaft auf die vom US-Kongreß bestätigte viel kleinere Landschenkung zu beschränken habe. | | Specials: | Blaugrün/schwarzer Druck, teils goldfarbener Überdruck, mit großer detailreicher Abb. einer Rinderherde. | | Availability: | Unentwertet. | | Condition: | VF | | Sold: | unsold |
